Children and Youth

“For I know the plans I have for you...to give you a future and a hope.” -Jeremiah 29:11

Childcare

Childcare is provided through our Kinderwyk (nursery) program staffed by professionals and members located in the church school downstairs from Covenant Hall. Available for ages newborn through 4 years old. Care is offered from 9:50 am to the end of Sunday service each week.

Church School

Children through Junior High (ages 6 to 14) are invited to leave worship after the children’s message and go to church school. From 10:15 to noon, activities are offered so that parents might attend the Sunday Forum.

  • Our curriculum is based on our Liturgical Calendar having the children participate in worship 3 times a year in different ways.

  • We have an opening worship in our class each Sunday consisting of lighting candles representing the prescence of God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, and saying our prayer together. Each child lights and extinguishes the 3 candles every week. We do this to teach the children about sacred space out in the world and in our church building.

  • Creating community with the children is also an important part of our preparation for when we will be participating in worship service.

Youth Group

Youth Group is for children grades 6 through 12. We meet twice a month for fellowship and community service. All are invited to youth group - even children of non-members

  • Participants are encouraged to bring friends from school to participate.

  • The senior high youth group participates in a yearly mission trip. The trip is local, domestic, or international depending on the year.

  • Meets twice a month on the first and third Sunday immediately following the service, for fellowship and community service.

Confirmation

These classes prepare youth for entry into adulthood and membership in the church.
